“Dr. Annalisa Derr’s “The Transformation of Inanna - From Great Goddess to Patriarchal Daughter” was a fascinating, thoughtful, and deeply engaging exploration of Inanna and the ways our understanding of this extraordinary Goddess may have been shaped by the changing cultures and power structures of ancient Mesopotamia. I especially appreciated the exploration of a pre-patriarchal Inanna. Dr. Derr’s lecture gave me a new framework through which to think about those changes.

The lecture left me thinking deeply about what we might find if we could somehow just uncover each of those accumulated layers. I appreciated that Dr. Derr invited us to explore the complexity.

I was also deeply moved by the experiential portion of the lecture. Dr. Derr’s invocation and guided visualization were beautifully done.

I very much look forward to exploring more of Dr. Derr’s work and future presentations.
